If you are a commercial transport licence holder your license requirements are more stringent and slightly different than if you are private license holder. For vast majority of people there may not be much of a difference but in certain conditions it can be a sea change. For example, in NSW, hearing is not part of assessment if your are a private licence holder, but if you are a commercial licence holder there are specific criteria. It is because if you are operating a commercial vehicle you are considered to be responsible for the safety of many more people than if you hold a private licence. Medical fitness for commercial (and private) licence are guided by national guidelines with some minor state variations. Please be aware that medical assessments for commercial vehicle licence is exempt from Medicare and you may not receive any rebates.
